"I think the toughest obstacle an artist faces is that in order to get your work out there, to be seen, to gain any sort of exposure or recognition, you have to have a certain level of confidence in yourself and your work, audacity and a thick skin. But in order to create art that is worth an audience you have to question yourself always and create from a place of utter humility. It's hard to put your work out and face criticism. There are thousands of voices telling writers not to write and only one telling us that we must write. We have to listen to that one voice that says write."
